The Universe Isn’t Out There

There’s an article in the Archives called Hey, Universe, Are You Ignoring Me? The question arose from my exasperation with having tried to think all the right thoughts, declaring my intentions to the Universe, and yet finding no opportunities arising from it, not even small ones.

The Universe within

An interesting thing has been revealed to me. There is no entity out there, tangible or not, that is poised to bring me my dreams once I get my thinking on track. I don’t need to declare anything to any Universe. It’s not listening. The only Universe that matters is inside my own head.

It’s our own subconscious we need to declare our intentions to. Or maybe our subconscious is already on the right track and it’s our conscious mind that needs to catch up. The point is, it’s entirely internal and it’s up to us to learn to pilot it. The Universe at large is not a big player in this game.

The two have to come into alignment to get anywhere. This is exactly what I was trying to write about last time. Perhaps they finally unite with the act of deciding. Once you are ready to make an irrevocable decision, the outcome will be delivered.

No turning back now

What I’m saying is that the moment you’ve decided a thing will happen, it’s 98% already happened. As soon as you make the conscious and final decision to alter the present, it will change. If you’re still in coping mode, everything remains the same.

I see this with people who own dogs, you see. The dog runs the house. It’s in the nature of dogs to try to take over, either because they think they’re the leader or because they feel like they have to be since no one else is stepping up for the job. Either way, most dogs must know clearly where the leadership is coming from to relax. Eventually, it gets out of hand and the owners are not permitted on their own furniture because the dog hasn’t granted consent.

Now, these folks have been pushed to the point that the present must change. The leadership must be powerful for most dogs or they’ll push back. Once owners have reached the decision to take on that power, even before they ask me for guidance, the dog knows the tables have turned. Animals are intuitive beyond any ability we have to know or remember. The practice and realization of reclaiming their own bed is already a done deal because it has happened in the owner’s head.

A binding decision

Have you seen this with your children? The revolving door of silliness comes to a grinding, screeching stop when you make an unconditional decision that it will. Taking the final step to that new conviction is actually pretty easy. All the steps that came before – less easy, because you have to be pushed enough to attain the level of power necessary to make that categorical decision. Being pushed while still undecided is uncomfortable.

Once the decision is made, once your subconscious and conscious line up and become bound as one, whether you let it happen or make it happen, the thing you’ve chosen will now take place.

Wanting with clarity

In watching these scenarios play out for the thousandth time, I saw that the Universes of Possibility, Achievement, and Completion are entirely within me. They are not floating around watching me or guiding me, or sending me anything. They’re waiting for me to set my sights on what I want and focus hard to the exclusion of any other possible outcome.

So my job now is to keep merging what my Deeper Self knows about me and what my conscious mind thinks it knows about me. I’m still amazed that my Deeper Self keeps itself so remote and secret to my conscious mind, but that seems to be how it is.

The closer I can come to making an unqualified and pure decision, the more immediately will I see results. That means getting my head to exactly that place where the possible (subconscious) and the real (conscious) fuse.
