THE BEST EYE CREAM

October 10, 2007

I don’t want any more time to go by without you knowing about this fantastic product, so it is the first article in the Skin Care category. I have never used a better eye cream. It’s called Skin Recovery Moisturizer. It’s made by Paula’s Choice.

Let me clear about one thing : there is no such thing as “eye cream”. A well-made cream can be applied equally well on any body part. I’m calling it that here because it is of unrivaled excellence when used around the eyes. Here’s why.

A state-of-the-art formula and spectacular feel

It’s a very rich cream, so on my face, it only goes around my eyes (my skin is quite oily). I only use it at night and can still feel it there in the morning. I love that the cream doesn’t slip around after I apply it, so I can read for an hour without the cream moving into my eyes. My skin feels calm and looks shiny and moist all the time. Concealer just blends effortlessly the next morning.

You can use this cream anywhere on your body. If you have delicate or dry skin, you will love it on your entire face. It’s a gorgeous cream for throat and hands. I use the same skin care products on hands, arms, neck, and chest, all the skin that is most exposed. Your skin care routine does not end at your jaw line.

It feels incredibly luxurious. Now, I know better than to believe texture reflects ingredients, and you do too, right? I also use it because of what I know it contains. This cream incorporates the best of what is known about skin care today, with antioxidants, peptides, and anti-irritants in high enough concentration to actually do something. How do I know that for sure? I can’t read a cosmetic ingredient label.

Say hello to Paula

I know it because I’ve followed Paula’s work. Her opinions come from established sources that are respected in the scientific community. This woman has devoted her career to empowering women by telling them the truth about cosmetics. I have faith in what she says and in what she sells. What else do any of us really have to base purchase decisions on, other than our trust in the person/company that is selling the product? You may think of an expensive brand name that you would like to trust because you figure they must know something more about skin care … think again. There is absolutely no consistency in that line of thought.

Protect what you still have

Do the the lines around my eyes vanish? Of course not. No eye cream can do that. When it comes to wrinkles, prevention is the name of the game, and that means sunscreen, the sooner in life, the better. The texture of my skin is definitely firmer, but the lines are still there and always will be. The only thing that will remove them is plastic surgery. If you are 20 and reading this, get started now.

Don’t buy into beauty industry hype

I don’t accept the notion that eye cream is somehow different from face cream. I don’t believe eye cream has smaller molecules that are absorbed differently. I think it’s a marketing ploy. They put it in a smaller tube and charge you three times the price.

Manufacturers may take out the fragrance, but you shouldn’t use fragranced products on your face anyhow. If I can’t put a product around my eyes, why in the world would I put it anywhere else on my face? Products that smell wonderful can also be irritating, either with the first application, or over time. The fragrance is of no use to your skin. If you use a cream just because you like the smell and it makes you feel like you’re doing something special for yourself, you need to get past that. Buy some expensive tea instead.
The fancy containers are not helping your skin so don’t pay for them. The packaging certainly matters but slick and shiny is not where the profit is to you.

Products you can really trust

I will be posting in the future about this company because I think they’re remarkable. I believe that their passion and integrity is sincere and that the products do what they say they will, not more and not less. Furthermore, the line is entirely affordable. I know that when I trade my money for any of Paula’s products, I do not have to wonder for a moment if I’ll get what I’m hoping for.

A great moisturizer will make wrinkles less noticable while a FACE FIRMING cream that contains DMAE will improve your face firmness. Both are required! Firming during the day, and Moisturizing at night.

Plus you want a face cream that has no chemicals, because chemicals will break down the skins elastic which groups together skin molecules – which causes wrinkles!

I recommend the Made from Earth vitamin enhanced face firming serum – this is what I have been using for the last 6 months. It works great for me, and I see results. I have noticed my face alot tighter, especially under my eyes. The Made from Earth Vitamin Face Firming Serum must have alot of DMAE in it because right after I apply it to my skin, I feel it tightening already. I have also used the 3 Berry Face Serum at night which has a super moisturizing effect
    .
Highly recommended for healthy women who want a healthy way to remove wrinkles.

    But, Pauline,

DMAE is the abbreviation for the compound identified as 2-dimethyl-amino-ethanol. Unless university chemistry has changed the rules, that is a chemical. In fact, what substance is NOT a chemical, whether in a skin cream or anywhere else?

Maybe because I’m a product of North American medical training, I’m very big on research if it’s going in or on MY body. The research surrounding DMAE is controversial, to say the least. Now, you can find controversial data for every food, cream, vaccine, drug, or any other chemical. But I’ve not seen any evidence to convince me that DMAE is synonymous with harmless or with firming.

Having said all that, I’m always happy to hear it when someone has spent money on a beauty product and it did what it promised to do.

    Hi Christine,

I am a huge Paula fan! I love the Skin Recovery Moisturizer and the Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate. All of my skin care is Paula’s Choice. I’ve tried other products, but they end up under counter and partially used and I always go back to Paula.

I don’t like the fragrances or prices that come with a lot of products (LaMer, comes to mind, possibly one of the dumbest, most expensive products I have ever bought. The smell reminded me of my grandmother’s cold cream and it didn’t work any better than most moisturizers I’ve tried over the years). But I bought it anyway, falling completely for the hype.

Keep up the no nonsense approach to skin care. Here’s to not only growing older, but smarter too!

    Hi, Kathy,

A day will come when those of us whose time is most valuable will NOT carry a cell phone.

A day will come too, I hope, that the fearless and smartest among us will have faces that have not known needles or knives.

Good story about LaMer. I’ve got a few of those myself, but a lot less often since I re-acquainted myself with the work of Paula and her group. I sometimes wonder if the men and women (:)) in cosmetics marketing ever have trouble living with their consciences, which must be like the elephant in the room when they meet clients. I’ve worked in places where I’ve felt rather poorly at the end of the day, and places where I use my knowledge, experience, and skills to always and only sell people what they need. It sure feels different.

This is my first comment here , so I hope I do it — and get it — right. I wanted to start with something simple, like a health and beauty aid, and I saw my wife putting the Made from Earth – Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer on her face this morning (as she’s done very morning for the past 20 years of our married life) and I asked her why she uses it and is so dedicated to this one particular product. She scowled a bit at me and asked, “Can’t you see why?”

    Point taken.

She looks beautiful and as young as when we first met (Yes, she’s looking over my shoulder as I write this. Ow!)

But seriously, she is well on her way to 50 and (Ow!) looks fantastic. Her face is soft and nearly wrinkle-free, and many women underestimate her age which, of course, she loves.

Whatever materials are contained in it, she has obviously benefitted. But even if she hadn’t been using it, and became wrinkled (Ow!) and hard (Umf!) and aged in appearance (Yow!), I would still love her (Awww!).

Hey, Mark! Congratulations on your first comment – it was fun to read.

What does it mean “I wanted to start with something simple” ? Hopefully that there will be many more. :)

Your wife shouldn’t beat on you, it sounds like she got a good guy. Wrinkled, hard, and aged … say it ain’t so … is an excuse to reiterate one of my many soapbox themes, that the people that matter to us REALLY don’t need (or want) us to change ourselves to please strangers we’ve never met. We are all already perfect.

I’m glad the face cream and your wife are a combination that works so well. Maybe her beauty and confidence are also in part due to the support and love she’s getting from the one whose opinion matters most. How we see people is reflected in our own faces. If we (choose to) see strength and support, our face reflects it like a mirror. And strength and support is what we get back.

It works in reverse too. If we (begin by choosing to) see weakness or laziness, that’s what will come back.

But you obviously know this already. We need more comments from men like you here. So, how do you feel about color?

It is a well documented fact that DMAE is found in Wild Alaskan Salmon; along with Omega-3 fatty acid which is a huge benefit to the human body, DMAE does in fact tighten skin and improve the texture of skin. What you put on your skin is just as important as what you consume in order to help your skin from the inside out. One thing I see over and over when reading facial cream reviews is women complaining about puffy under-eye area…

one of the best things you can easily do to improve or even entirely rid yourself of this problem is CUT DOWN ON SALT. “If you have puffy bags under your eyes in the morning, you are almost certainly consuming much more salt than you need

The best serum I use is the Made from Earth Vitamin Enhanced Face Firming Serum. It is the most cost effective DMAE source I have found and has worked to make my puffy eyes not puffy!! Also it contains a 3% DMAE concentration – I have used it for about 7 months now, and have now stopped because I have seen a significant improvement in the wrinkles around my eyes. Now I just dab some noe maybe once a week. Well worth it – http://www.madefromearth.com/

Got something to say? I hope so.
