Sunscreen Search 2008
June 16, 2008
Each year, I take a look at what’s on offer in the sunscreen world. Our family goes through 12-15 tubes in a summer, so I’m price-conscious. What I put on my face ( see the articles Clinique : A Gorgeous Lipstick, A Fabulous Sunscreen and 2 Estee Lauder Product Reviews : A Best-In-Class Sunscreen and a So-So Foundation ) and what my kids cover themselves with at the beach or the pool is not the same product. To show you how seriously I take sun protection, take a look at my new sunglasses.

As soon as warm weather arrives, we want a little more color on our face. It looks great and it’s a lovely way to celebrate the prospect of several months of summer. In Canada, it matters.
Bronzer is the best way to get that color. I think it’s also the most attractive. You can put it where you want it and never look burned. A real tan just looks old these days.
Product Review : Aveda Lip Tint SPF 15
June 9, 2008
By far my favorite Aveda product is the makeup. The pigments are lovely, the colors, for the most part, are very wearable though the whole collection looks shinier every time I look at it.
They make 2 makeup products that are luminary. The first is the sheer tinted foundation with sunscreen, called Inner Light Tinted Moisture SPF 15.

SITE TO KNOW : COOLIBAR
April 28, 2008
There is a previous article on sun protection in the Archives, entitled The 28 Sun Facts . It provides some background on sun protection. This is an area that evolves quickly because consumers, the skin care industry, the FDA, and the medical community all care about it.

It ’s Clinique Bonus time at Sears Canada. I normally find the Bonus very hit-and-miss. Besides their High Impact mascara, there are very few Clinique products that I love and am willing to pay for. The lipsticks come in some good colors but have less staying power than Vaseline, whichever type I buy. The April 2008 bonus has some good things in it and it’s yours for a CDN$26.50 purchase.

2 ESTEE LAUDER PRODUCT REVIEWS : A BEST-IN-CLASS SUNSCREEN AND A SO-SO FOUNDATION
April 6, 2008
I found it difficult to get excited about this product. I tried to be excited because EL has made some great foundations. The original Double Wear foundation was too heavy for me, too mask-like. The idea of a lighter application with durable wear on oily skin, in case warmer weather ever arrives, was appealing.

I’m always trying new sunscreens. It’s challenging to find one that works well under makeup without being greasy.

By the B’s, I’m angry
I’m not angry at the exaggerated claims. I’m used to ignoring that.
I’m not angry at the inflated prices. If you agree to take the saleswoman’s word, without accessing this totally available information, it’s your own fault.
I am infuriated at [...]
