Personal Colour Analysis (PCA) Q&A

June 20, 2009

There have been a lot of questions about the PCA process. I’ve tried to adress them in an FAQ page. You can reach it from  http://www.agreenertea.com/pca-faqs/

or from the link in the lower horizontal navigation bar (black with light grey tabs) just below the header picture, at the PCA FAQs tab.

There is another new tab up there in the same navigation bar, called “Why PCA?” . If you find yourself in that list, being PCA’d will be a valuable experience for you.

Anything I’ve missed?

    Hi Christine,

Great, great FAQ list. I especially like the one about what to do if you end up hating the colors in your palette. :)

I’ve never been analyzed in person before, though Lora Alexander did the quick analysis using a couple digital photos I sent to her. I live in New Mexico. While I’m sure there are PCAs here who know what they’re doing, if I were to pursue a more detailed color analysis, how do I know if the person really knows what s/he is doing?

I have a pretty good idea what works for me, as there are certain colors that I wear that really feel/look good, make my skin glow, eyes pop, etc., but I’m not sure what my true season is. I have that sort of wishy-washy (but in a good way, right?!) coloring that could put me into Soft Summer, Soft Autumn…well, maybe Light or Cool Summer…oh gosh, not quite sure. Back in the 80s, I bought Carol Jackson’s CMB book, and thought for sure I was a Winter because my favorite colors (at least at that time) were the strong jewel tones and black.

I do love wearing black, and always thought it looked good on me, so after Lora suggested I might be a Soft Summer, I’ve been reluctant to give up my beloved black. I’m also in some situations where I’m required to wear black – I’m a choral singer, and all-black outfits are de rigueur in that setting.

But I digress…too bad I don’t live closer to you, or I’d have you analyze me!

    Take care,
    Mary-Ellin

    Thanks for this site.
I had a colour analysis almost 20 years ago. I was a winter type, but I found that it was more towards the spring. And know I read that there are 3 different wintertypes. I didn’t know. I googled for something else but the results show your website as well and I am glad I looked at it.

    Mary-Ellin,

New Mexico is far from Ontario. If you’re ever within a day’s drive of Detroit, let me know. Lora is really very intuitive about colour. Odds are that you are the season she analyzed you to.
How do you know if a more detailed analyst knows what they’re doing? I guess, how do you know if anyone does? Do a little research ahead of time, trust your instincts, get referrals.
All coloring is good. And right. It’s not so much what colours you like as the effect they have on the skin. Black has a very particular effect on Winter skin, and somewhat different in men than women. Quite honestly, I don’t think anybody has a clue till they’ve been analyzed by someone who knows what they’re looking for. What seems like a subtle shade difference can have a fairly dramatic effect on the skin.
Do you know how to locate Sci\ART analysts? I like that system because it’s objective. The tests are done in a series that makes complete analytic sense and each test confirms the test that came before it. Maybe other PCA systems work the same way, I do not know.
    Nice talking to you :)

    Sterre,

    Thanks for commenting :)
These aren’t the 80s anymore! The analysis system is so well thought out at this point that everyone can be placed within 1 of 12 colour groups. They’re called Seasons because it’s familiar and it works, but it’s just degrees of light/dark , clear/dull , and warm/cool.

    Hello,
I was research colour analysis online and happened to come across your site. I have been colour analyzed in the past and have become interested in the topic ever since and wanted to have a colour analysis done with the 12-season system. I currently live in Sarnia, Ontario and wanted to know if you could recommend any particular places where I could have this done (or even personal consultants).
    Thank you very much!
    Jelena

    Kathleen,

Look at http://www.coloranalysis.com . It’s the Sci\ART site. On the left side, you’ll see a link for Appointments. It will take you to a page that lists all the analysts in North America. I hope there’s someone near you.

Got something to say? I hope so.
