SITE TO KNOW : COOLIBAR
April 28, 2008
There is a previous article on sun protection in the Archives, entitled The 28 Sun Facts . It provides some background on sun protection. This is an area that evolves quickly because consumers, the skin care industry, the FDA, and the medical community all care about it.
The Coolibar objective
A private company based in Minneapolis, Coolibar’s mission is to develop superior sun protective clothing to allow people to safely enjoy life in the sun. They have researched and assembled an impressive inventory of effective and affordable clothing and sun-related products for the whole family.

It ’s Clinique Bonus time at Sears Canada. I normally find the Bonus very hit-and-miss. Besides their High Impact mascara, there are very few Clinique products that I love and am willing to pay for. The lipsticks come in some good colors but have less staying power than Vaseline, whichever type I buy. The April 2008 bonus has some good things in it and it’s yours for a CDN$26.50 purchase.

Dark lipstick looks like you tried too hard. It may work in the fantasy world of magazines but real women live on a different planet. On which of your friends do you think dark lipstick is attractive? Unless you hang out with Catherine Zeta-Jones, prominent lipstick does not work.

A good friend suggested recently that I try a cream from the Boots No. 7 line. She had tried it and found it to feel very nice. Much as I like my friend, how nice a cream feels is probably the least important factor in determining whether or not I will buy the product.
Why? Because how it looks, how it smells (especially if it has a smell, which is a deterrent), and how it feels do nothing to help your skin. Absolutely nothing. How it feels and what it does are not linked. Don’t connect them.

I have given up hope of finding a drinkable green tea in a bag. The flavor variations are “Wet Straw Juice” right on down to “The Shivers” and “I Can No Longer Suppress My Gag Reflex”. Back in the article Matcha Tea, I was struggling with the same problems.
Need an answer? Ask a woman.
My good friend Gina provided me with bag of loose leaf Gyokuro Tea. Hope resurrected.

I have found that when you are going to confront the husband about whatever it might be, it is useful to have a strategy. My strategy is this: “I have decided that I do too much of the crap work in this house. I have also decided that it is now your job to take care of the garbage and recycle. I am no longer doing this job whether you do it or not”.

I am endlessly awed, humbled, and inspired by human creativity. You can say any amount of bad about the species, and much of it would be true, but there is imagination and vision within each one of us that is stunning to behold.
Meet Xavier
I have realized that I notice very much how things look. A bit less, how they smell. Hardly at all how they sound. Not how they feel. How they taste? I don’t care enough, or else I’ve just replaced that care with a stronger concern about overall nutrition.
2 ESTEE LAUDER PRODUCT REVIEWS : A BEST-IN-CLASS SUNSCREEN AND A SO-SO FOUNDATION
April 6, 2008
I found it difficult to get excited about this product. I tried to be excited because EL has made some great foundations. The original Double Wear foundation was too heavy for me, too mask-like. The idea of a lighter application with durable wear on oily skin, in case warmer weather ever arrives, was appealing.

Embarking on the unknown road that will lead to success is not daunting. Not knowing what form that success might take is not demoralizing either. The real fear, the only fear, for me, lies in the event that I will walk this road to find that it leads nowhere.
Part of me fundamentally believes that that is not possible. My other part, hopefully a smaller size than the first, is not so sure. Though my intention is to shape my own future, rather than just react to the things that might happen to me, I’m not always operating at full intentional power.
KEVYN AUCOIN : ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
April 1, 2008
You may remember Kevyn Aucoin from the article on the light concealer. He wrote a handful of books about makeup and its application prior to his death. He died at the height of his fame of complications from a brain tumor, at the age of 40. At that time, having him do your makeup came with a price tag of $4500
